It’s been a little over a month since Forza Horizon 4 came out, and in the weeks since we’ve been having a blast with the game, exploring the beautifully detailed roads and countryside of Britain, enjoying the weekly seasonal changes and events and of course throwing down in our weekly drift sessions. Soon, we’ll have even more to explore and even crazier roads to drive.
Announced over the weekend as part of the Inside Xbox event, next month will see the launch of the game’s first expansion, called Fortune Island. Playground Games is calling it "the largest expansion they’ve ever done, featuring the most extreme terrain ever seen in a Horizon game."
The environment will include huge ravines, cliffside roads and perhaps coolest of all, the series' longest stretch of switchback mountain road yet, which the developers is say is ideal for drift sessions.
Expanding on the varied weather conditions we’ve already seen in the game, the expansion will add powerful thunderstorms and even the Aurora Borealis.
The Fortune Island Expansion will arrive on December 13 and will be available to anyone who purchased the expansion bundle or the Ultimate Edition of the game. One of the things that we love about it is that it sounds a lot like what the Storm Island expansion for Horizon 2 should have been. While that expansion wasn't bad, it was severely lacking in cliffside mountain roads and other treacherous terrain to go along with the crazy weather. The focus on giving even more epic drifting playgrounds has a stoked, too. Based on the fun we’ve had with the game already, we cannot wait to jump in and try it out.
