Serious motorsport fans know that a race car’s livery can be just as memorable as the machine itself, and no automaker is better known for its famous racing liveries than Porsche.

With the brand celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2018, they have decided to bring back two of their most iconic racing liveries on a pair of 911 RSRs at this month’s 24 Hours of Le Mans race.

Rothmans Front

First up is the #91 car, which has been done in Rothmans colors. It brings to mind countless Porsche race machines from the '80s and early ‘90s, including the 956 and 962 prototypes and the Paris Dakar Porsche 959 of 1986.

Despite the modern styling and aerodynamics of the contemporary 911 RSR, the legendary Rothmans blue, white, red and gold look right at home on the new car.

Meanwhile, the #92 911 RSR dips even further back into Porsche racing history with its reincarnation of the “Pink Pig” livery.

Originally seen on the Porsche 917/20 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1971, the Pink Pig got its name not just from its color, but from the butcher style cut lines that crisscross the bodywork.

Porsche is a brand that's always been big on heritage, and these liveries are a perfect way of mixing the modern with the classic. We’re looking forward to seeing these on track and all the rest of the action at Le Mans later this month.

There's no bigger show for Porsche and their racing liveries than Luftgekült.
