Meet the new 2023 Subaru Crosstrek, spotted for the first time in public while testing in downtown Detroit.
Subaru introduced the first generation Crosstrek in 2011 at the Frankfurt Auto Show, and 10 years later, moderately refreshed the design in 2021. These photos show-off a complete redesign.
With the exception of the greenhouse, changes can be seen nearly everywhere on this prototype. In the front note that the Crosstrek will be new from the A-pillar forward (hood, grille, headlamps, front fascia, etc). On the sides of the vehicle, the body lines appear to have been toned down, fenders modified (including a vent on the rear of the front fender), and the roof rack has been redesigned. At the tail-end, there's an all-new rear end with a new tailgate, taillights, rear bumper, and a slightly revised C-pillar.
For the inside, expect an all-new interior with an updated version of Starlink Multimedia.
Not surprisingly, power is expected to come from the 2.5L four-cylinder boxer engine, although we hear Subaru may offer an optional turbo 1.8L four-cylinder boxer engine. Both engine choices are expected to be paired to a 6-speed manual or optional CVT.
There will likely be an official debut in late 2022.
