With hybrid systems and electrification making their way into every segment of the automobile market, it shouldn't be surprising to hear that Lamborghini's latest creation is sporting advanced hybrid technology—and the electric boost has helped make the just unveiled Sián the fastest Lamborghini of all time.

Lamborghini Sián Hybrid Supercar

Taking its name from the Bolognese dialect word for "lightning" or "flash," the Sián is the first Lamborghini production car to implement electrification, but by no means has the company left behind its wild, petrol-burning roots.

The Sián's electric motor makes 34 horsepower and is incorporated in the gearbox with its energy stored not in a battery but in a supercapacitor located in the bulkhead between the cabin and the engine bay. Oh yeah, and there's also a 785 horsepower V12 gasoline engine there for good measure.

The result is a combined output of 819 horsepower which allows the Sián to hit 100 kilometers per hour in less than 2.8 seconds and hit over 350 kilometers per hour on the top end. It also has the best power to weight ratio of any V12 Lamborghini ever.

And just as its powertrain blends high tech electric power with a traditional naturally aspirated V12, the exterior of the Sián combines both the future and the past, with a number of elements inspired by classic Lamborghinis like the Countach.

Lamborghini will build just 63 examples of the Sián with buyers able to personalize the colors and details of their individual car prior to production through its Ad Personam program. We are especially fond of the "Verde Gea" color on the debut car, which will be shown this month at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Unfortunately if you are just hearing about this car now you've already missed your chance to buy one, as all 63 Siáns have already been spoken for. But more than just being a new limited production supercar, the Sián is designed to preview the future of Lamborghini's more mainstream offerings, and if this car is anything to go by it should be an exciting feature indeed.
