The Toyota Land Cruiser is a vehicle you don’t hear a whole lot about these days, partly because it sells in such small numbers and partly because the current Land Cruiser has been around largely unchanged since the 2008 model year. Yet even in its current form, the SUV remains one of the most rugged, capable and dependable vehicles money can buy and has very loyal legion of fans.
To commemorate over six decades of Land Cruiser adventuring, Toyota has just announced a special 2020 Land Cruiser Heritage Edition that will be debuting at the upcoming Chicago Auto Show.
While it sports no real mechanical upgrades over the already impressive standard Land Cruiser and its 381hp V8 and stout 4x4 system, it does have some nice aesthetic touches that set it apart from the crowd and earn appeal among the Land Cruiser faithful.
The Heritage Edition will be offered in two colors, Midnight Black Metallic or Blizzard White Pearl with unique accents, and special badging inspired by the classic Land Cruiser models of the last 60 years.
Perhaps the biggest part of the Land Cruiser Heritage Edition are the forged 18x8-inch BBS that are colored bronze and fitted with retro-inspired “Toyota” center caps.
Toyota plans to build 1,200 examples of the 2020 Land Cruiser Heritage Edition, with pricing to be announced closer to the on-sale date this summer. While there’s a lot of speculation about when the next generation Land Cruiser will arrive, it seems the current model still has plenty of life left.
