Chevrolet has been on a serious push with new truck models lately, and this week it introduced the latest version of the workhorse Silverado HD with a lot of unique style to match its heavy duty credentials.
While it’s clear that the HD shares DNA with the new Silverado 1500, Chevy says the only piece of metal it shares with the lighter duty truck is the roof, with every other area being unique to the HD model.
That includes a new front-end treatment that’s about as big and bold of a pickup’s nose as there's ever been. It’s already earned a lot of response online, though we’d wager it won’t look nearly as “in your face” when you see it in person.
Aside from the new look, Chevy also says the new Silverado will feature two engine choices—a gasoline V8 and of course a Duramax turbo-diesel which will make 910 lb-ft of torque and come mated to a new 10-speed Allison transmission.
Other details haven’t been released yet, though Chevy says it will feature a number of new tech features to make towing and hauling easier, and natural increases in both cargo payload and towing capability.
Pricing has yet to be announced, so you can expect that and other details to be revealed closer to the on-sale date in the spring of 2019. For now we can say that there certainly won’t be any mistaking the 2020 Silverado HD for any other truck when it hits the roads next year.
